We’ve “moved” to CulturalOffice.org
Last month, we migrated our website URL and email addresses away from coppercolo.org and moved to www.CulturalOffice.org. This change is a direct result of input from our recent strategic planning process, where we heard from many stakeholders who said that the meaning of the “COPPeR” acronym was unclear. While we have no intention of eliminating our longtime nickname, the hope is to strengthen our brand by using “Cultural Office,” a name that communicates more directly who and what we are – just in time for our 10th anniversary, this year!

Every summer, the Cultural Office’s Peak Radar Outreach Booth travels to events across our region to get people plugged in to the arts! We’re looking for this year’s team of volunteer Arts Advocates to help staff these important outreach opportunities. Volunteers are trained on running the outreach booth and on how to speak knowledgeably about our cultural community. Congratulations to Susan Peiffer, our new Pikes Peak Poet Laureate
On April 24, Susan Peiffer was inaugurated as the 5th Pikes Peak Poet Laureate, to serve from 2016-2018. Susan is a poet, educator, and performance coach, and the program director for Hear, Here! Poetry. Currently working with the Colorado Springs National Youth and Adult Poetry Slam teams, Susan looks forward to serving and connecting diverse audiences through this new honor.

- The Pollinate: Biennial Arts Festival delivered diverse arts experiences on the theme of “energy” at a wide variety of venues across the community in early April.
- The Pikes Peak Library District celebrated National Library Workers Day and National Library Week during April 11-15.
- Students at Fountain Valley School got to experience an inspiring gospel music master class with guest artist, Sam Bryant.
- On April 18, Andy and Angela of the Cultural Office team appeared on the live radio show Latino Life, hosted by Joe Barrera, on 93.9 FM KCMJ. Tune in on Mondays from 5-6 p.m.
- Ignite Colorado Springs returned on April 20, featuring creative local voices David Lee of Strategic Perspectives LLC and Becca Sickbert of Elope, among others in the lineup.
- The Cultural Office announced that the 2016 Artini kickoff to Arts Month will be held on Friday, Sept. 30 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at The Mansion/The Mezzanine in Downtown Colorado Springs.

The Lantern Glow: A Cultural Festival of Lights
Saturday, May 7 at Pikes Peak International Raceway, Gates open 3pm, Lantern Release at 8:30 pm
Join this stunning visual celebration of community at Pikes Peak International Raceway, and be entertained with performances and activities in partnership with My 99.9 FM and the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region. At nightfall, you and thousands of others will release your lanterns into the sky for the finale, creating a moment you’ll never forget! Live Entertainment featuring local talent will be on the My 99.9 Stage, and emcee’d by local iHeart Radio DJ’s. Participate in Glow Games, and interactive stations exploring lantern festivals around the world and our local arts & cultural community. Some proceeds from this event will benefit the Cultural Office.
